Plastikcomb Magazine

Focus: Editorial Design
Published: January 2024

Plastikcomb Magazine is a reputable publication that is centered around collage and design. The layouts are sought to be unconventional with typographic experiments and image play to be a focal point. Myself and 5 other Visual Communication Design students of Montclair State University were invited to work directly with print publication on their seventh issue, where we developed spreads for veteran graphic designer, illustrator, and collagist, Stephen Byram.

Concept Statement

With the intent to provide an immersive experience to Byram’s profound portfolio, as a group, we decided to create an scrappy and gritty environment with Steve’s strong visual language while also introducing a unique reading experience for the viewer.

Group Spread

As a personal touch, each team member created illustrations that expressed our personalities and for the unique opportunity to get to know us—the designers, aka Team Byram!

In addition, the Department of Art & Design were impressed with our efforts that we were featured in the February 2024 newsletter.
