On a personal note, I have a brother with special needs and medical challenges. One of the pitfalls that I personally experience is trying to encapsulate how I felt when he goes through his medical challenges. I notice this with a lot of people that have siblings with special needs. However, I wanted to open up on how I feel when he goes through his struggles: worry, helplessness, and hope. At the same time, I am overwhelmed by our 20 years of memories; the laughter, the tears, or just the time we needed some company. I chose to create an accordian folded book this because I wanted this to be a way to not only let my emotions out, but to reach out to others who may be feeling a similar feeling as I felt.
